United States of America

Truman's position (shameful)

"I am sorry gentlemen, but I have to answer to hundreds of thousands who are anxious for the success of Zionism. I do not have hundreds of thousands of Arabs among my constituents."  President Harry Truman.

The U.S. position (still shameful)

"It is simply extraordinary and without precedent that Israel's history, its record - from the fact that it is a state built on conquest, that it has invaded surrounding countries, bombed and destroyed at will, to the fact that it currently occupies Lebanese(*), Syrian, and Palestinian territory against international law - is simply never cited, never subjected to scrutiny in the U.S. media or in official discourse...never addressed as playing any role at all in provoking 'Islamic terror'."  Edward Said in "The Progressive. May 30, 1996"

"The United States has been a terrible 'sponsor' of the peace process. It has succumbed to Israeli pressure on everything, abandoning the principle of land for peace (no U.N. Resolution says anything about returning a tiny percentage, as opposed to all of the land Israel seized in 1967), pushing the lifeless Palestinian leadership into deeper and deeper holes to suit Israel's preposterous demands...

...The fact is that Palestinians are dramatically worse off than they were before the Oslo process began. Their annual income is less than half of what it was in 1992; they are unable to travel from place to place; more of their land has been taken than ever before; more settlements exist; and Jerusalem is practically lost."  Edward Said in "The Progressive. March 1998"

(*) Israel evacuated Lebanon in May 2000, after IDF was put under tremendous pressure by the armed struggle of Hizbollah freedom fighters.

The sacred cow

In the eyes of the Americans, and especially, the politicians, Israel has always been so sacred that a politician running for office, just can not criticize her publicly or criticize her wrong doings and Human Rights breaches. It would be a political suicide if he or she does. It's a pitiful situation, where in the country of the free you cannot air you thoughts, you have to be hypocritical to please your constituents, and swallow your pride and dignity just to please the Jewish lobby...

...$ 5 Billions a year, of tax payers money, are going to Israel. Israel doesn't need that much money to feed her people, with this kind of money you can feed the whole African continent for ten years, Israel needs this kind of money to defend her self against stone throwing children and flag bearing youths.

Palestinians and others are killed every day with American weapons. Palestinians and others are tortured every day with American weaponry. Palestinians and others are suffering every day in refugees slums with America's blessing, and the Congress reciting their last rites.

Just sign here, you’ll be fine..."an offer you can't refuse"

Israel and the U.S. say that Arafat should have signed what has been offered to him at Camp David 2, how could he refuse such a good offer ?

For the sake of the argument, Just imagine one day someone comes and enters your house by force. He occupies all the rooms and confines you to the smallest one. You try to defend and liberate your family with all means available to you, but you don’t succeed since he has the backing of the bloodiest mafia gang in town.

One day he calls you and tells you that he is leaving for good, but before that, he makes you understand that you have to sign a peace treaty with him, when you read the draft, you discover that his renegade sons are staying and they are keeping the kitchen, the living room and the bathroom. He also keeps the right to visit any room any time he pleases.

Honestly, will you sign ?

Loyalties of the big powers are never permanent

With all the admissions, confessions and mortifications, the Jew persists; "We possess Palestine, and we will keep it by force of arms!" It is true that Israel is strong, but so were the Greeks, the Romans, the Egyptians (to name just the few), but where are they now? Vanished into oblivion. And in this 56th anniversary of the creation of Israel, we see all the signs of an imminent self-destruction...

...It is true that Israel has strong friends, but one should know that loyalties of the big powers are never permanent; when the crunch comes, your supporters, protectors and financiers, will let you down in the same way they let down the South Vietnamese; we all remember the fall of Saigon and how the Americans were in hurry to leave without saying "Farewell"... or perhaps more recently during the Gulf war, when Israel became in the eyes of the Americans more of a thorn than a true ally by the fact that if Israel had engaged in the fighting, it would have split the coalition...

...The day will come when the President of the United States will be more concerned about the Arab-American and the Muslim-American votes than the Jewish-American one... or (in a simpler approach), it’s very easy for the barrel of oil to reach inconceivable prices, (the Arabs could allow it)... If this day comes, mighty America will just say: "Sorry guys, you're on your own".

Then, the Arabs will throw Israel to the sea with the help of  the Americans themeselves.

U.N. Resolutions on "Jerusalem" and the transfer of diplomatic representations there

The Security Council Resolutions condemn the annexation of Jerusalem and do not recognize it as the capital of Israel: The Israeli decision to make Jerusalem its permanent capital represented a sharp challenge to its international legitimacy, while at the same time contradicting all the international laws as well as the Security Council resolutions, especially resolutions 250 and 253 passed in 1968, which nullified all the Israeli legislative and administrative activities that might change the condition of the city, specifically the buildings and the land.

Moreover, this was emphasized in resolution 267 in 1969, which also nullified all of the Israeli legislative and administrative activities. Then there was resolution 465 in 1980, which asked Israel to remove all of the settlements in the occupied territories, including Eastern Jerusalem, and resolution 478 in 1980, which confirmed the two previous resolutions and asked all the member countries not to transfer their Diplomatic Corps to Jerusalem.

Finally, resolutions 672 and 673 in 1990 and resolution 904 in 1994, all of which considered Jerusalem an occupied territory and condemned all of the violent actions against the Palestinians, especially the massacre in the yard of Al-Aqsa Mosque in October of 1990.

The American Congress and its plan to move the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem

Some months ago, the American Congress voted 96 against 4 for a resolution to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The American government paid $1 for a 99 year lease for the land where the embassy will stand, Oh yes! one US Dollar.

  • Are the honourable members of the American congress aware that this land has been privately owned since the 1700’s by six Palestinian families (75%) and a Palestinian religious organisation (25%) until it was confiscated by Israel when it occupied West Jerusalem in 1948 ?

  • Are the honourable members of the American congress aware that on this very land were set up General Alenby’s headquarters, and that Great Britain appreciated and paid rent to the rightful owners without interruption until the end of the British mandate in 1948 ? (Alenby was the British General who entered Palestine in 1917 after the Turks were defeated)

  • Are the honourable members of the American congress aware that by accepting this land from Israel, they are accepting stolen goods… Are they aware that by agreeing to build a new American embassy on it, they are unquestionably laundering Israeli crimes and among them is the confiscation of Palestinian land and property, which is illegal according to all International Laws and U.N Resolutions ?

  • Are the honourable members of the American congress aware that Israel is trying to obtain international legitimacy for all its illegally acquired properties and territories by luring the USA into buying this land for such a derisory price… Are they aware that stolen goods are always cheap ?

  • Are the honourable members of the American congress aware that by accepting this land they are negatively contributing to the peace process and are without any doubt helping the apartheideic Israeli regime in strengthening and reinforcing its ethnic cleansing against non-Jews… Are they also aware that the world community including the European Union, has finally perceived the true image of Israel and recognised its discriminatory policy against the Palestinians ?

  • Are the honourable members of the American congress aware of anything ?

Washington Report on Middle East Affairs: "American policy in the interest of America... Not of Israel"

"October 23, 2000: We thought the October/November special election issue of the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs would be our last chance to give readers the facts before the Nov. 7 presidential election. However, as the “peace process” falls apart and Israeli snipers fire live bullets at demonstrating youngsters and use American-made or -funded weapons against Palestinian civilians, we realized we had to seize this opportunity to inform you of some historic good news.

Oct. 23, 2000 marked the birth of an American bloc vote for peace and justice in the Middle East after a gestation period of many years and the hard labor of many brave souls. The Washington Report is proud of its role in encouraging Muslim and Arab-American leaders and readers to galvanize their communities for a bloc vote at this crucial time. They have succeeded in identifying an issue and uniting to deliver a bloc vote for a presidential candidate, putting themselves on the map as full participants in the American political process.

At an Oct. 23 press conference in Washington DC, George W. Bush was endorsed for president by national and local Muslim-American leaders representing the American Muslim Political Coordinating Council Political Action Committee (AMPCC-PAC). AMPCC is a member coalition of the four major American Muslim political organizations: the American Muslim Council (AMC), the American Muslim Alliance (AMA), the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), and the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC).

The AMPCC-PAC endorsement was based on:

  • The level of accessibility provided by the candidate to the American-Muslim community.

  • The candidate’s track record, specifically on civil rights issues.

  • Input from community groups via surveys, straw polls, and town hall meetings.

“Governor Bush took the initiative to meet with local and national representatives of the Muslim community”, said AMA chairman and AMPCC-PAC director Dr. Agha Saeed. “He also promised to address Muslim concerns” on domestic and foreign policy issues. As Muslims vote in a unified bloc, they may decide who is elected president in November. Candidates are sure to take notice and begin to listen to Muslim concerns.

AMC president and AMPCC-PAC member Dr. Yahya Basha cited Governor Bush’s elevated level of concern in regard to secret evidence and airport profiling and bringing it to the national political debate.

Despite numerous requests, neither Vice President Al Gore nor his election staff would meet with American Muslim leaders. This perplexed MPAC national director Salam Al-Marayati, who noted that President Bill Clinton had set a precedent for accessibility for Muslims. Moments before the bloc vote announcement, Gore’s campaign headquarters and the Democratic National Committee were on the phone, asking AMPCC to delay its endorsement.

Finally, just as the cameras began to roll, the bloc vote was getting the attention of American politicians;... For the first time in U.S. history, American Muslims, and most Arab Americans, will be voting as a bloc in a race so tight they can make a difference in key states. There are an estimated six to eight million Muslims and an additional two million Christian Arab Americans in the United States today. With large concentrations in key battleground states such as California, Illinois and Michigan, American Muslims and Arab Americans represent a swing vote that candidates must acknowledge. By voting as a bloc, they can make their voice heard and, at the same time, give a great gift to their fellow Americans: the gift of a principled Middle East policy in the interest of America... Not of Israel.

What does the birth of the bloc vote have to do with Palestinian children like 12-year-old Mohammed Al-Durra dying in the streets in Israeli-occupied Palestine? With the threat of even greater bloodshed looming, American lawmakers, including the president, may start listening to the voice of Muslim- and Arab-Americans and to citizens of conscience who care about the Middle East, if they have some political clout. This bloc vote will send a message to American leaders that this nation’s Middle East policy must become even-handed for the first time in half a century.

When you go to the polls on Nov. 7, or when you demonstrate in solidarity with Palestinians, carry a sign or wear a badge or sticker people will notice, such as, “Muslims Vote", ”Peace for Palestine", or “End Aid to Israel”...

...And Make a Difference This Year, Vote! "
